Why play Modern at EPIC Ipswich?

If you read the title, you should know a more accurate title would be "Why aren't you playing Modern at EPIC Ipswich?"

The Community

Modern is perhaps our most popular Magic Night here at EPIC Ipswich, as I'm typing this blogpost, we currently have 26 Players still on their first round of the night. It's a testament to the loyal Modern Community in Ipswich, most people that play Modern with our local players end up becoming close friends, all incredibly grateful players that tease and support each other.

The Leagues

Modern at EPIC originally started with the local community wanting to play in a league (The Modern Masters League). Now known as the Aus Magic League, the Ultimate Guard sponsored, multi store league sees people accumulate points to compete in the finals and win some goodies along the way.

In addition to the Aus Magic League, EPIC has it's own EPIC Battle League, which tallies the accumulated points from the weekly plays and lets the top 8 battle it out for cash prizes before its season close on the Saturday which is open to all that attended 70% of all games throughout the league (READ MORE ABOUT IT HERE).

Finals for both leagues are already being held at EPIC Ipswich so why not get familiar with the territory and store ahead of time?

FREE BOOSTERS!

All new players on Modern receive a free Promo pack and everyone who plays on the night receives a free Modern Horizons II Set Booster!

Prizes

Of course if you make it to the top 3 you win some goodies
1st Place Wins -  2 Set Boosters and a Draft Booster of their choice
2nd Place Wins - A Set Booster and Draft Booster of their choice
3rd Place Wins - A Set Booster of their choice
*Prizes exclude Double Masters 2022 and Modern Horizons II

Finally I want to share some behind the scenes details that the Benevolent Owners (who the Modern Community affectionately refer to as 'Store Daddy' and 'Store Mummy' run all our Magic the Gathering events as cost-neutral. They are very strong believers in cultivating and supporting the gaming community and making their profits on food, drinks and retail stock. Our final for the EPIC Battle league works out cost neutral and factors in the cost of the MH2 Set Boosters when covering the cost of entry and Prize Support.  This community means a great deal to me and even more to them.
Thank you to our amazing Modern Community and it is my hope that we may yet welcome more Magic the Gathering Players to the format and our store in the following weeks.

Your Friend and Ally,
Lachy

The website got a facelift

It has been busy busy busy behind the scenes here at EPIC Ipswich over the past fortnight. Prep work for the Benevolent Owners shared vacation, juggling the change in the store's layout, new til systems, new television menus, and becoming increasingly popular. This isn't even factoring in the change in menu, or the upcoming events planned. We have been busy and you can trust I'll give you, loyal readers, a store update once we get time. In the meantime, our website has been updated by yours truly. When I first did the original website home page I had the essential elements, with a lot of my working hours, I've been making the website more streamlined and more friendly to our bandwidth. Please note, that the game pages are still to be updated to provide you more information about what we do here. In the mean time, anticipate big things on the horizon. I saw some streaming gear in the offices.... I suspect it will have something to do with videos on the social media end.

First Aid trained Fblthp

The Lost Adventures of Fblthp - entry 2 See previous entry here First Aid trained Fblthp The Pelican swooped down and carried him to a new location. It flew higher and higher until it too was lost. Both entities could no longer see the water and only saw buildings below, with a mighty kick Fblthp indicated to the Pelican that he wanted to be dropped off. He stayed on the rooftop for a couple of days before someone went up to have a break, sneaking his way down into the building proper, he found himself in a seminar of some variety. Sneaking onto the computer he read up on some of the material discovering it to be none other than a first aid course. Adding his name into the system he was escorted to a chair beside one of EPIC's patrons Lisa Cooke. Lisa was enthusiastic enough to see the homunculus but couldn't understand his 'jabbering'. Not wanting to get picked for any answers he hid behind a workbook but was unfortunately singled out to answer questions.... fortunatel

THEY ARE BACK!

THIS IS NOT A DRILL! THEY ARE BACK! Ladies, gentlemen, guys, gals and my non-binary pals. The benevolent and almighty owners of EPIC Ipswich have returned.  For those who hadn't visited the premises since last Wednesday, Trevor the Founding Father and Trish the Queen of Crafts, left EPIC Ipswich in the very reliable and most capable hands of their staff whilst they were out plotting... erm... I mean planning changes to the business in a conference down in Sydney. After the store nearly burnt down from a fryer being left on over the weekend and its panicked cover-up. The Benevolent and most gracious power couple of the store touched down Monday morning to say and I quote "Yup. That's a mighty fine store we have. Were the garbage bins emptied? Did someone eat my truffle? Did someone forget to feed the work experience people we have locked away in our office?". After finding all the staff members answers acceptable, they finally let me out of the cardboard box they'
