What is Adventurers League?

 

Adventurers League is a standardised and regulated form of Dungeons & Dragons. It uses the rules as written in the official D&D books, so you don't need to worry about any homebrew rules.

Character creation is limited to the Players Handbook and one other source, which means you don't have to worry about anyone making characters that are too game-breaking, as well as all the possible worlds you can end up in are all published D&D settings 

To put it simply, Adventurers League takes all of the guesswork out of D&D. The stories are already written, the rules are plainly outlined, and everything is structured. So it is a great place to learn as a player and even as a Game Master 

Each session is a short self-contained 2-4 hour story, though some will make callbacks to other stories you won't miss much if you can only come in once a fortnight instead of every week, unlike other games where it always feels like when you miss one session you end up missing all the important plot points and feel disconnected from the story

Q: I don't have any dice, will I still be able to play?
A: Yes, here at EPIC we have dice to borrow for those who are brand new to the game or accidentally left their dice at home

Q: I'm worried I will make too many mistakes and frustrate other players
A: Don't be worried, everyone here at EPIC who plays loves having new people join in adventures taking new players under their wing and teaching them how to play the game

Q: Will it cost me to play at Adventurers League?
A: Nope, it is free to join in on the adventures

Q: I don't know how to make a character
A: That is totally fine, we will have already made characters for you to use as well as plenty of other players that will help you make your character
